After all, there’s a southern side to every place in the world, right? About The Author It’s easy to bring a little bit of Reese’s world into your home, no matter where you live. Reese loves sharing Dorothea’s most delicious recipes as well as her favorite southern traditions, from midnight barn parties to backyard bridal showers, magical Christmas mornings to rollicking honky-tonks. It’s reflected in how she entertains, decorates her home, and makes holidays special for her kids-not to mention how she talks, dances, and does her hair (in these pages, you will learn Reese’s fail-proof, only slightly insane hot-roller technique). She takes the South wherever she goes with bluegrass, big holiday parties, and plenty of Dorothea’s fried chicken. Reese’s southern heritage informs her whole life, and she loves sharing the joys of southern living with practically everyone she meets. Reese Witherspoon’s grandmother Dorothea always said that a combination of beauty and strength made southern women “whiskey in a teacup.” We may be delicate and ornamental on the outside, she said, but inside we’re strong and fiery. Academy Award–winning actress, producer, and entrepreneur Reese Witherspoon invites you into her world, where she infuses the southern style, parties, and traditions she loves with contemporary flair and charm.

They assaulted the German Army in Aulla, Italy in April 1945. The 100 th and 442 nd pushed hard against the German line. The units broke the Gothic Line that the German Army had constructed and reinforced under the direction of German Field Marshal Albert Kesselring. They encountered extremely difficult terrain as they traversed the Apennine Mountains. In March 1945, the 100 th/442 nd was attached to the 92 nd Division on the Italian Front. The highly decorated unit earned eight Distinguished Unit Citations during the war with five of those citations being earned for actions that occurred in Vosges, France in a single month. While these young men were fighting for their country in Europe, some of their relatives were held in internment camps in the continental United States due to their heritage. The units served in the European theatre of operations from 1944 through 1946, seeing combat in Italy, southern France, and Germany. The 100 th Infantry Regiment and the 442 nd Regimental Combat Team, which consisted of second-generation Japanese Americans (commonly referred to as Nisei) during World War II, is a shining example of the extremely honorable and self-less service many Asian Americans have made to their country. Many Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders have served in the United States’ military throughout the years. They went on adventures together, and had a great time, until he realized that no one was talking to either of them, but Stargirl didn't seem to notice or care. Leo Borlock fell in love with her almost immediately. Classmates dressed like her, and acted like her, but nothing lasts forever. Her classmates were in awe, and out of shock, and admiration, she instantly became very popular. On Stargirl’s first day, she showed up dressed in a long white gown, with a ukulele strapped to her back. The story takes place at Mica High, in the town of Mica, where everyone acts, and dresses the same. When Stargirl is asked by her friend, Leo, to become normal, she tries once to be like everyone else, and goes back to being herself, which I find very inspiring. I can relate to Stargirl because she is different, and isn’t everyone? This book made me realize that being different doesn’t mean that everyone necessarily wants to fit in, like in most books. He uses phrases like, “She laughed, and the desert sang,” and, “The ground does have a sandy color to it, or gray, but your feet won’t sink in.” Stargirl is one of my favorite books because of the way Jerry Spinelli describes the characters emotions, and the setting. Stargirl is written for seventh to ninth graders, but adults will love it too! It tells about being different, and the problems and joy of a first love. Stargirl is a beautifully written book by Jerry Spinelli. 5/21/2023 0 Comments Alec nevala lee astoundingI'm also the author of the novels The Icon Thief, City of Exiles, and Eternal Empire, all published by Penguin my short stories have appeared in Analog Science Fiction and Fact, Lightspeed Magazine, and The Year's Best Science Fiction and I've written for such publications as the New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, Slate, The Daily Beast, Salon, Longreads, The Rumpus, and the San Francisco Bay Guardian.
